Graffiti is art.It is a special type of art that does not belong closed in a museum. Graffiti expresses political or social views of the artist and takes skill. Not just anyone can do graffiti and have you seen some of the places it is painted like on bridges and overpasses. This art requires a skilled artist and not the everyday Joe. For this reason I feel that graffiti is art.

Artist in Society
Wilkipidia says a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural idenity a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Because a society is a mixture of individuals, artist are a must to achieve a diverse society. Artist are the ones who dare to go were no one has gone before and because of that, we as a society should not judge our artist for being different.
Fashion as Art

Fashion is a way of showing ones individuality. The body is the canvas and the cloths are the paint. A good example of this is Lady GaGa. This music artist is viewed as weird by many. Her since of style turns heads and drops jaws with every appearance. Just like her since of fashion, she is very outspoken and defined.
A work of Art
Micheal Jackson's Thriller is a true work of art. In almost all countdowns that I have seen, this one continues to be number one. It was the leader in movie like music videos. Thriller was the first to have plot and the extensive costumes and make up made it a model for the future videos to come.
Poetry Slam
Im not a poem writer but I do read. Solitude by Ella Wheeler is one of my favs of all times this poem is so deep and meaningful to me.
Solitude
Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone.
For the sad old earth must borrow it's mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air.
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go.
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all.
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a long and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain

The Culture of HipHop
The definnition of a cultural movement is a change in the way a number of different disciplines approach their work. This embodies all art forms, the sciences, and philosophies. Hip hop is a culture because it precisely fits that definition. this culture includes writers, dancers, and artist. When hip hop first surfaced in New York, no one thought it would last but instead 20 years later it is one of the most powerful forms of art around the world.
Public Art
Art and Film

Let’s see art and film… Film is a form of art. Instead of a paintbrush the artist in the film industry uses writing or acting to share with the world. Artist in history have used their skill to convey their feelings on many political and social movements through history. A modern day example of this is a movie that I am actually watching right now. My Sisters Keeper is a movie that hits on the subject of the Stem cell debate. This is a very touchy subject and runs along the lines of how the dada artist expressed antiwar views through art.
I know What Art Is
To me, art is an outlet from reality and a way to express who we are as individuals and how we view the world around us. Before taking this art class I knew what art was but I never really knew its purpose. Now I know that Art helps us to show what’s going on in our minds to others in a way that words alone cannot describe. Art is a reflection of different time periods throughout history. Without art as an outlet many great artist may have gone mad. Although some still went mad anyway!

Human Struggle lost in America

Human struggle is a must for all humans to better themselves and learn to cope with life's unexpected happenings. Human struggle makes one stronger but is human struggle becoming extinct among wealthy Americans? Shows like MTV's Sweet Sixteen show young kids being showered with expensive gifts by their rich parents. Most of these kids are so spoiled that they would not know what to do first if something was to happen to their parents. I have a 3 year old and I want the best for him. I want him to have all that I did not have but I also want him to know what human struggle is. Without that knowledge it is easy to crack under pressure. For example at the start of the economic crash, their were many stories of people commiting suicide and in one case a man murdered his entire family after being layed off. Americans need to be less greedy and help one another deal with the inescapable human struggle.
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning.” Frederick Douglass

Art in Schools

Why is art just an elective in some schools? I think that art should be in the same category as math and Science. Art teaches one to think for themselves and be there own person. And what better time to learn art than when you are a child. If art is not improved in our schools, we are going to have a world full of human robots because the encouragement to be creative is dying with art.
Wow That was deep.

While reading up on the human condition I came across the interesting subject of trans humanism. It all started at the beginning of time. Humans have always been curious about our state of being and every century or so, the human condition has been improving with the knowledge being gained from curious humans. But were do we go from here what more can we possibly discover? well this movement called trans humanism is international intellectual and cultural movement supporting the use of science and technology to improve human mental and physical characteristics and capacities. The movement regards parts of the human condition, such as disability, suffering, disease, aging, and involuntary death as unnecessary and undesirable. Transhumanists look to biotechnologies and other emerging technologies for these purposes. Does this clash with some of our religions. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
my view of Human Nature
Human nature is an amazing thing. No matter who you are or what you are, human nature is found in all of us. Even a person with no common sense at all will react in the same manner as an intelligent individual when it comes to certain situations. For example some may not agree with me on this, but I think that it is just human nature for men to be completely dumb about women. Its human nature for us to grieve after a loss and human nature for us to smile in a happy moment. College has taught me that it is human nature for us to make mistakes and thats what helps teach us to learn from them.
Architecture

While visiting family in New Orleans I was afforded the chance to see the new homes that actor Brad Pitt and friends are putting up in place of the ones destroyed during Katrina. These homes caught my eye because they look so different. I like to say that they are futuristic looking. The replacement homes cost an average $150,000 each. Planners said they hoped the new homes with their solar panels and energy-saving appliances will catch on in the city as New Orleans continues to rebuild

Im Having a Catharsis
Why do we have to do things at night. Not that I don't like the night life, I just don't like the drive to get there. My biggest fear is getting in an accident. Driving on these dark, country roads in Georgia really works my nerves. It angers me when people dont turn off their high beams when they see that they are approaching another car. If I had my way, certain roads would close with the setting of the sun.
This is my view of night driving

Dance
One of the newest additions to hip hop dance is the "Jerk". Jerking is more than just a dance it can be considered a movement. Jerk is the word used to describe the dance and the culture behind it. The Jerk style consist of bright colors and skinny jeans none of that baggy stuff thats sooo 90's. The dance has swept the nation and the song is played constantly on the radio. "New Boys" are the leading "Jerk" artist.

This is It
On Wedensday Oct. 28th I was able to go see "This is It". This movie is a true work of art in that it shows a legendary artist at work. Micheal Jackson's stage was to him what the canvas was to Picasso and his microphone his paintbrush. In this Film, the world is able to see a genius at work . We were able to finally view the real Micheal. Many of us are so brainwashed by the media that we think Micheal is bad person or many fans just see him as a machine and not a real person. "this is It" shows him as a human and shows that he practiced hard and thats why his performances appear to be flawless.
